Christmas is Coming

Christmas time is coming and coming fast! The last several weeks have been filled with the Christmas spirit and with Christmas balloons! Santas and reindeers have been everywhere. Elf hats and candy canes have been plentiful as well! It is always fun when a new season comes around and adds to the normal, everyday balloon repertoire! The holiday season adds the most balloons, especially when you add in the wintery balloons as well! Lots of fun for the Balloon Lady!

Christmas tree and a Rudolph made at McAlister's to help celebrate the season. Rudolph got really in to the decorating as you can see!!!

The Thankful Project--times 2

This year for Thanksgiving, the trend on facebook was to post daily a different thing you were thankful for. I decided to participate. I dillegently tried to post something everyday that I was thankful for. The bad part of that project, was that I seemed to neglect this blog!

Thanksgiving, and really the month of November is a weird time for me as a balloon artist. There are so many fun things to make for the halloween season and also a ton for Christmas. In the middle of all of that fun is November. While I can make a good Turkey, and make a ton of them. It really gets pretty boring just making turkeys for a month! So, whenever I was at McAlister's and there was a little bit of down time, I tried to make a different aspect of the Thanksgiving story. In essence I did a balloon Thankful Project. I did not manage to get a picture of the big Turkey I made the first week. it was a lot bigger than my normal handout turkey.

The next week I made a pilgrim. He was holding his
musket ready to find a nice juicy Thanksgiving
Turkey!

The last special sculpture of the Thanksgiving season was an Indian. I almost didn't make him because I certainly didn't want it to be taken as politically incorrect in any way! I went ahead and made him though and I thought he turned out very cute. He was holding a tomahawk ready to assist the pilgrims in anyway!

So, Thanksgiving is over. November will be over in a couple of days. I enjoyed both of my Thankful Projects this year! But, now it is time to bring on the Holiday Cheer!

A Twisted Halloween!

The last several years for Halloween, I have made some kind of twisted mask/hat for Bob and I to wear while we walk around with Kaitlynne. It is always a lot of fun and we always get lots of comments! So, this year, I decided to pay homage to the WORLD SERIES Champs!!! I put on a St. Louis Cardinals shirt and made a Cardinals Mask to wear.

For Bob, I decided to try something totally new to me. I first made a werewolf mask. Then, I added a body and arms. To the arms, I added clear 260 balloons so that Bob could somewhat control the arms.

It was a fun Halloween for sure! Kaitlynne dressed like a hippy and we all had a great evening! Tonight is another fun McAlister's night! Last week I played during the slow times and made this fun creation! Come out and see what might happen tonight!!!

More Twisted Fun!!!

Last Tuesday, at McAlister's, I couldn't resist making this St. Louis Cardinals Tribute. I hope it helps them win the next two games and bring home a World Series!!!

Sunday, was the Fall Festival at our church. While I was busy making balloons for the Boo Bash at Hickory Hills Country Club, I sent 4 hats and a couple of bracelets with my Family to the church event for the kids to have fun with. Fun was had by all for the looks of the pictures!!!

Crazy Weekend!!!

After being motivated by my new Mickey balloon shirt, I decided to make a Mickey all decked out for halloween. This time I chose to make a Skeleton Mickey! I was pretty pleased with how he turned out!

Friday night I did a fun night for a local elementary school! It was a great event and fun was had by all!!!

Saturday started with me being able to be a part of the Hounddog Homecoming again. This was the second annual homecoming. It is always fun to see all the animals dressed in their halloween costumes and parading around. I love to be apart of things like this!

Then, I got to go to a birthday party for a special girl named Katie! I have done her birthday party once before and 2 for her little brother. I always try and outdo myself each time with my sculpture I bring. This year, she was having a carnival themed party. So, I made a clown juggling some clubs, but that wasn't good enough. So, I put the clown on top of an elephant. Still not enough--so why not have the elephant balancing on a ball! That will work! Turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself. Ended up being about 3 and half feet tall.

This week is McAlister's on Tuesday, followed by a Halloween party on Saturday and a birthday party for 2 lucky kids on Sunday. I will also be making some crazy halloween hats for a photo booth type thing at a fall festival at out church! Fun times with Dena The Balloon Lady!!!!

Weekend recap and another McAlister's Kids night!

Saturday Morning started off with a Magic Themed Birthday party. For the special sculpture I was going to bring, I ran with the magic them and created this little guy. The birthday boy loved him. He decided to name him Nibbles. I snapped a quick picture of him sitting on the floor in front of this balloon just looking at it. Too cute! The wand is a balloon straw covered with balloons. The cards are real cards! Couldn't figure out how to make those look real from balloons! LOL!!!

Next, I went to a local college for a lunch in honor of their family weekend. It was a fun time, but no time for pics. Then it was down to Branson for a wedding reception. My being there was a surprise to everyone, except the Bride and Groom. The Bride's kids were very surprised! It seemed like everyone enjoyed it. Sunday, the family and I went to the outlet malls and did some shopping. I found one of my favorite shirts ever while there!!!

Today is Tuesday which means it is time for another McAlister's Deli Kids night! Last week was lots of fun bringing out the fall/halloween designs. This week I hope to bring out more of those designs while making some of the old favorites too!

Birthday Parties

One of the events that Dena, The Balloon Lady loves to do is entertain at Birthday Parties. The smaller number of kids at the typical birthday party allows the Balloon Lady to really go all out in her creations! Balloons can be used as favors or just for fun! Each birthday child will get a birthday cake hat made from balloons and a specialized custom sculpture!
